New Orleans-based Work

In New Orleans, Cate conducted two extensive research projects centered around food-based place-based development in post-disaster contexts. The first project concentrated on fostering urban agriculture in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, addressing food deserts and under-invested areas by providing essential fresh produce. The second project focused on the evolution of the food truck industry following the 2007/2008 economic collapse, contributing to the city's recovery from both the economic downturn and the lingering effects of the hurricane.
