Swing Set Parklet

Cate’s first Park(ing) Day installation involved the construction of a large swing set to encourage the investment of playful infrastructure in the city’s downtown. There are now four swing sets installed in downtown Chattanooga through the Porch CHA project with which she is involved.

Musical Parklet

Cate also created a musical parklet built with items repurposed from the Chattanooga Department of Transportation, including discarded street signs, tires, marking paint and cans, and wooden pallets.

Social Interaction and Play Parklet

Her most recent parklet created a larger playspace that encouraged social interaction, with a wood seesaw enjoyed by adults and children alike; a “chatter” bench that encouraged strangers to sit and chat with a selection of prepared topics, as well as life-sized games of kerplunk and jenga.
